Imo community honours ace sports journalist, Paul Ogazi

A veteran journalist and former Assistant Director News, (Sports), Nigerian Television Authority, (NTA), Chief Paul Ogazi has been conferred with a chieftaincy title of ‘Okwuzuo’, mouthpiece of Uwalla Autonomous Community in Owerri North Local Council of Imo State.
Conferring the title, the Traditional Ruler, Eze Okechukwu Nwaneri, Alaoma Uwalla, said the honour was in recognition of Ogazi’s numerous philanthropic and humanitarian services to both the community and the society at large.
Nwaneri described the ace sports journalist as a rare gem and a beacon of peace, unity and progress in the community, adding that his reputation and selfless services have attracted so many goodwill and development to his people and community.
The monarch said the honour was not only a way of the community expressing their appreciation Ogazi, but also to encourage him to do more for the socio-economic growth and general development of the community.
Meanwhile, speaking after the conferment ceremony, Ogazi said he was humbled by the honour and pledged his determined effort to continually contribute his quota where and when necessary for the overall interest and well-being of his people, community and the society at large.
He used the opportunity to advocate for peace and continued unity of the country, while urging the leaders and elders to live by example and support the younger generations achieve brighter future.
He dedicated the honour to God, his community and people of goodwill and prayed God to afford him and other good spirited individuals the grace, wisdom and resources to continue doing their best for the general good of the society.
“I thank God for this honour. I also thank my community and pray the Almighty God to keep us alive because we still believe that we have more to give; more to contribute to help our people especially our upcoming ones so that with our collective support, things will go very well for us all, “ he said.
Other personalities from the community, who were also honoured alongside Ogazi included Sir and Lady Raph Ahuekwe; Prof. and Mrs. Peter Okolie; Mr. Celestial Osuji, Mr. and Mrs. Victor Ejimofor; Ogaranya and Mrs. Chikamaele George Okoro; Engr. and Mrs. Chigozie Igbo; Mr. and Mrs. Ambrose Akujobi; Mr. and Mrs. Edmund Obijuru and Mr. and Mrs. Boniface Kamalu.
