Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to approve the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) trust fund that would create financial autonomy for youths.

Once the fund takes off after approval by Buhari, according to HURIWA, the number of young Nigerians who pass out from the scheme to face a depressing future in the labour market will reduce drastically.

In a statement issued yesterday in Abuja, its National Coordinator, Emmanuel Onwubiko, revealed that aside from the positive, transformational and constructive social impact the trust fund would bring, “the initiative is about the surest panacea to end the involvement of the perennial youth in social crimes.”
