I have been vindicated on Buhari, says Fayose
The outgoing governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, on Friday, said he has been vindicated over his 2015 warning that President Muhammadu Buhari lacks capacity to govern the country. He stated this in Ado Ekiti, when former Kano State governor, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso met with state delegates to ask for their support for his presidential ambition.
Fayose said: “When I made the warning, Kwankwaso was one of the people that reacted angrily against me. But thank God, today, you have seen reason and you are now born again.Buhari’s subordinates have always handled governance whenever he heads a place.
Fayose said Buhari was a wrong choice for the All Progressives Congress (APC), because “he is a black market. APC leaders, including former Lagos State governor, Bola Ahmed Tinubu don’t love Buhari. They all went into exile during his regime.”
He urged the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to pick the best candidate, so that Nigerians could have a choice in 2019.He said: “We must approach this battle as a united body. This is a wake-up call for all aspirants. We want a man in whom our future and that of the country can be guaranteed.”
In his remarks, Senator Kwankwaso admitted that the APC, which he was a part of, made a mistake in their ‘Change’ mantra by picking Buhari. He said: “We all know what is happening as a result of the change we made. We regretted it. We must change the change. With your support and that of others, PDP will sack APC in 2019.
In a related development, another PDP aspirant and former minister, Kashim Saminu Turaki, who was also in the state to canvass for support of delegates, warned that the country’s unity was under great threat.
“Today, Nigerians are divided like never before. The country’s survival is in serious jeopardy because we have a clueless and inept leadership,” he said.Saying he believed in restructuring of the country, Turaki lamented that the constitution is making it an impossible task.
