Ibadan, the Oyo State capital has scored another first, as Total Healthcare Diagnostics Limited (THDL) becomes the first internationally certified laboratory in the South West region of the country with the ISO 15189-2012.

Ibadan, the Oyo State capital has scored another first, as Total Healthcare Diagnostics Limited (THDL) becomes the first internationally certified laboratory in the South West region of the country with the ISO 15189-2012.

Due to the feat, THDL would be the second private laboratory in Nigeria to have the international accreditation after Lagos.

This followed, as the country is on the verge of stopping unaccredited facilities from carrying out laboratory tests as from 2025.

Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN), Dr. Tosan Erhabor, said as a matter of policy, accreditation was voluntary.

“To play effectively in the global system, international accreditation is a necessity.
Total Healthcare Diagnostics Limited been accredited internationally, which stands it out. Any result produced in this facility from today stands the test of time anywhere in the world,” he said.
