Ibadan Polytechnic matriculates 13,097 students for 2024/2025 academic session

The Polytechnic, Ibadan, on Tuesday, matriculated 13,097 students for the 2024/2025 academic session.
At the matriculation ceremony held in Ibadan, the acting Rector, Dr. Taiwo Lasisi, said the figure was from the 19,620 candidates who applied to the institution.
According to him, 9,126 students were admitted to the National Diploma (ND), while 3,971 students got admission to the Higher National Diploma (ND) degrees.
Lasisi, represented at the event by the Deputy Rector, Mrs Olaide Salawu, charged the matriculants to imbibe the best academic culture for excellent results in their chosen careers.

He said, “I want to assure you that the programmes being run in the institution are fully accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and other relevant professional bodies concerned with programmes’ accreditation.
“We also have qualified and dedicated academic staff to teach and impact you with the current knowledge in your respective fields.
“In addition, all facilities and other resources required to fully equip you for the challenges ahead are available and will continue to be improved upon.
“Apart from these, the institution is endowed with a well-stocked library with current and up-to-date books and journals.

“Electronic library facilities have also been put in place for the use of both students and staff.”
He urged the students to comply with the rules and regulations of the polytechnic, as certificates would only be awarded to students found worthy in academics and sound morals.
He said there were penalties, ranging from suspension to expulsion, for flaunting the institution’s regulations.
“It depends on the degree of the offence,” he said.
Lasisi enjoined the newly admitted students to complete their registration online, adding that only less than 10 per cent of them had completed theirs.
