Igbo Congress denies endorsing Buhari

Buhari
The World Igbo Congress (WIC) has debunked the claim that it endorsed the re-election bid of President Muhammadu Buhari.

In a statement, the body said it stands in solidarity with Ohanaeze under the leadership of Chief Nnia Nwodo.

It condemned the inordinate behaviour of the suspended Secretary General of Ohanaeze, Barrister Uche Okwukwu and anyone or group working against the unity of Ìgbò Nation.

“We hereby disclaim that misrepresentation and vehemently jettison its endorsement of President Buhari administration. We have earlier made clear our rejection of Buhari’s dictatorial tendencies and perpetual hatred towards some sections of the country.

“For instance, the suspension of Walter Onnoghen as Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), the incursion and use of security apparatus to intimidate the Senate

President, Bakola Saraki; his disrespect for court orders; the harassment and arrest of journalists /activists, deployment of security service to intimidate political opponents, and an unforgiveable killings of hundreds of unarmed civilian Igbo youths through his Operation Python Dance.”
