Igbo Congress lashes at executive for non-passage of Electoral Law
The World Igbo Congress (WIC) has commended the Senate for passing the Electoral Bill and lashed at the Executive for not signing it into law.
The body said citizens must be free to hold their government accountable on issues concerning election of their leaders.
The Public Relations Officer of WIC, Basil Onwukwe said the Congress would not support the current fraud embedded electoral system with a predetermined outcome.
He said: “It is a universal and acceptable voting practice that accreditation and transmission of captured data be made immediately from voting stations, and the current situation where law enforcement agents are used for voting and thuggery should be jettisoned.
“Electoral fraud, as witnessed in recent elections, cannot guarantee free and fair election. No person should be above the law. This is our time to resist and defend our land to safeguard our posterity for future generations.”
