Igbo youths protest killings by Ebubeagu
Igbo youths under the auspices of Coalition of South East Youth Leaders (COSEYL), yesterday, staged peaceful protest on the streets of Aba, Abia State, over killings being perpetrated in the region by the Ebubeagu security outfit.
The youths resolved to take the protest to Owerri, Imo State, following recent killing of some youths returning from a traditional wedding in the state.
The youths, who carried placards, some of which read: “We don’t want Ebubeagu in South East,” “Is it a crime to be a youth in Imo?” “Hope Uzodinma should resign immediately for the killing of 21 Igbo youths by Ebubeagu,”
“Ebubeagu must go,” “Ebubeagu is a curse in Igbo land,” among others, lamented the spate of killing and kidnap along the Enugu-Port Harcourt highway.
National Coordinator of the group, Goodluck Ibem, told reporters that they embarked on the protest to express disdain over killings by the security outfit.
