The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali Baba, has directed the Osun state commissioner of police, Olaleye Faley, to investigate an alleged assault on female police inspector, Olorunsogo Bamidele.

Bamidele in a viral video alleged that she was assaulted by one Ajayi Matthew, a Divisional Crime Officer (DCO) in Ode-Omu area of Osun State for refusing to be his mistress.

“What is my offence? He started beating me to the extent, he stripped me. Look at my chest, arms, everywhere, there are injuries. He’s Ajayi Matthew,” Bamidele said. “He asked me out, that I should befriend him. I said no, that I’m a married woman.”

Bamidele lamented that after she rejected Matthew’s proposal, he went ahead to start blackmailing her with false claims.

“He started blackmailing me, claiming that he’s my lover, which is not true.”

She said Matthew threatened to gun her down and she later escaped with the help of a civilian who came to her aide at the police station.

Police spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, stated that the matter is under investigation.

Adejobi added that the force awaits feedback from the Osun State Police Command before necessary actions are taken.
