IGP vows justice as Mutfwang visits grieving Plateau communities

In the wake of a deadly overnight attack that claimed over 50 lives at Zikke and Kimakpa villages in Kwall District, Miango, Bassa Local Council of Plateau State, Governor Caleb Mutfwang, yesterday, visited the grieving communities to commiserate with victims and assure them of government support  

Speaking during his visit, the governor expressed deep sorrow over the incident, admitting that despite efforts made, the government fell short in preventing the tragedy.
 
“The whole nation mourns with you, the international community mourns with you. I have cried since yesterday,” he said, adding: “All arrangements were put in place to avoid this, yet we failed you. On behalf of the government and security agencies, please forgive us.”
 
The governor condemned the continued attacks that have plagued the Irigwe land, and promised renewed commitment towards ending the violence. He lamented the state of infrastructure, including poor roads, attributing it to years of neglect, occasioned by insecurity and terrorism.

ALSO, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has paid a condolence visit to the state, vowing to ensure that those responsible for the violence are brought to justice.
 
Accompanied by top-ranking officers, the IGP arrived Plateau to assess the security situation, and deliver a message of solidarity from the Nigeria Police Force.
 
During a visit to the Plateau State Government House in Jos, Egbetokun met with Governor Caleb Mutfwang, where he expressed his deep condolences to the governor and the people of the state over the tragic loss of lives.
 
To boost security and restore calm in the region, the IGP held a strategic meeting with key tactical commanders to review current operations, and adjust deployment strategies. He also ordered the immediate oversight of operations by the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Operations, DIG Kwazhi Dali Yakubu, who is to coordinate security efforts across affected communities.
