Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, yesterday, assured the populace of new vistas of development in 2022, as the year will feature heightened construction activities designed to increase the state infrastructural stock and ease the movement of people, goods and services.

He announced this in his new-year message, optimistic that with improved socio-economic outlook, the new-year will definitely be better than previous years. He applauded the citizens and residents for their support and cooperation in the past six and half years of his administration, thanking God for sparing their lives to see a brand new year that promises to be filled with great hopes.

Optimistic that improved peace and security would continue in the state, he assured the citizenry that adequate measures would be put in place to protect lives and property.

“On the economic front, we look forward to increase economic activities, especially with the expected groundbreaking ceremony of the Enyimba Economic City Project in the second quarter of 2022.”

He, however, reminded the people that 2022 will witness increased political activities across the country, as the race for 2023 commences effectively.

“I, therefore, admonish residents and citizens to be on guard and avoid any action that will plunge the state into needless chaos in the name of politics. Key political actors and parties should be mindful of the peace and security of our people as they engage in political activities.”

The governor, who was elated that the state House of Assembly was able to conclude legislative work on the 2022 Appropriation Bill, which he signed into law on December 31, 2021, said it will add greater impetus to government business in 2022. He pledged to fully implement the budget for the greater good of the people.
