Imo: Police commissioner rejigs security ahead of Yuletide

Commissioner of Police in Imo State, CP Aboki Danjuma, has reassured the citizens of robust policing of the state, especially during the Christmas and New Year festivities.
He said the command would deploy extra manpower and necessary logistics to areas with security concerns to complement effort on ground to guarantee adequate security for the people.
Danjuma gave the assurances when he led a top management team of the command on a confidence building tour of communities in Okigwe Council of the state, yesterday.
The Imo police boss, during the tour, met and interacted with traders at Okigwe Modern Market, Okada riders at Okigwe Town, men and officers of Okigwe Area Command and Division, Chairman and executive members of Okigwe Council and Commander of 34 Artillery Brigade, Okigwe, among other stakeholders from the area.
He also solicited continued support, partnership and collaboration with sister security agencies and members of the public to the Command, while reiterating the commitment of the command under his leadership to rid the state of violent crimes.
Meanwhile, Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, yesterday, presented a budget proposal of N592.2 billion for 2024.
Uzodimma, who made the proposal to the 27-member Imo State House of Assembly, christened it “Budget of Renewed Economic Growth.”
The governor disclosed that while capital expenditure will gulp N491.2 billion, representing 82.9 per cent, translating to 32 per cent increase when compared to 2023 capital expenditure budget of N373.6 billion.
Recurrent expenditure, he disclosed, will take N100.99 billion out of which N43 billion is set aside for overhead expenditure.
He said: “As the caption suggests, the budget is focused on the rapid economic growth of Imo State. Out of a total budget of N592.2 billion, capital expenditure will gulp 82.9 per cent of the total budget, which amounts to a capital expenditure of N491.2 billion. Compared to the N373.6 billion budgeted for capital expenditure in the 2023 budget, the 2024 budget translates to a 32 per cent increase in capital expenditure.
“This is a clear indication that we are determined to stimulate and fast-track the economic growth of our dear state. This point becomes clearer when we consider the 2024 budgetary allocation for recurrent expenditure of N100.99 billion out of which a total of N43.05 billion is provided for overhead expenditure in the 2024 budget.”
