Governor Emeka Ihedioha of Imo State has urged residents to support government’s efforts to tackle flooding in the state, particularly Owerri, the state capital.

Governor Emeka Ihedioha of Imo State has urged residents to support government’s efforts to tackle flooding in the state, particularly Owerri, the state capital.

The governor had, through the Environmental Transformation Commission (ENTRACO), commenced de-silting of blocked water channels within the capital city.

Addressing journalists in Owerri, the general manager of ENTRACO, Alex Emeziem, said that opening of tunnels and de-silting of gutters “is a continuous process” and vowed to find permanent solution to the menace of flood in the state.

Leading his team to open up one of the tunnels opposite Douglas House at the weekend, Emeziem attributed the blocked tunnels to former Governor Rochas Okorocha’s urban renewal projects.
