Imo State House of Assembly Speaker, Acho Ihim, has supported the action of the governor of the State, Rochas Okorocha, in relocating the Ekeukwu Market to Egbeada/Naze and other areas in the state.

Ihim, in a statement yesterday, commended the traders who accepted to relocate, saying that it was a decision well taken by the state government. He said the market constituted a nuisance to the state at its present location, making the area around Douglas Road, a safe haven for street urchins, miscreants, pick pockets and other criminals.

Ihim said the modern markets approved for relocation and with granting of gratis for some months for the traders, was a welcome development. He urged for peace in the process.

The market was demolished last Saturday, leading to the death of little Somtochukwu Ibeanusi, aged10, and his killers have yet to be identified.
