The Overseas Friends of India’s Bharatiya Janata Party (OFBJP) in Nigeria celebrated India’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, on Friday as he clocked 71.

Modi was born on Sept. 17, 1950. He is the 14th prime minister of India, a position he has held since 2014.

The prime minister is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party and was the chief minister for Gujarat from 2001 to 2014.

President of OFBJP a support group, Mr Sanjay Srivastava, said in a statement issued in Lagos that Modi is a leader of the masses and represented people’s aspirations.

Srivastava said that Modi was a selfless leader who had devoted his life to ensure that Indians lived a fulfilling life without exhibiting any form of tribalism or favouritism.

He urged other political leaders across the globe to emulate Modi’s leadership virtues.

“Prime Minister Modi is true to our traditions, committed to innovations and he is the leader of the masses, the beat of a billion hearts.

“His focus has been to ensure delivery of promises that were made on education, food, security, infrastructural development, trade and commerce during campaigns.

“He appeals to his cabinet ministers and bureaucrats to complete the projects they inaugurated within their tenure to ensure development in the interest of the common public.

“He is an excellent and positive example for the entire world as a true leader to serve people.

“A very happy birthday to the one man who inspires all to dedicate life for the motherland and for the world as a family,’’ Srivastava stated.

The Time Magazine announced Modi to be one of the rare and most influential leaders of India and among the six most influential leaders in the world.
