A devastating fire incident has razed 10 shops and destroyed goods worth millions of naira at the Central Market in Katsina State.
The inferno, which occurred on Monday at about 6:34pm, was suspected to have been caused by a solar-powered inverter.
The State Fire Service said it received an emergency call and immediately deployed officers to the scene to bring the situation under control.
According to the service, the fire affected 10 shops selling groceries, drinks, curtains, and fabrics.
However, firefighters were able to save seven other shops and prevented the fire from spreading to other parts of the market.
The service also said shops numbered 112 to 114 and the property inside them were saved, including a Peugeot 406 car.
However, shops numbered 128 to 130 were completely burned down. No lives were lost in the incident, according to the agency.
