Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has reassured the military and other security agencies that the state will do all in its power to sustain counter-insurgency operations in the state and restore peace.

According to him, the victory over terrorism, kidnapping and banditry should be sustained to protect residents’ lives and property. Buni gave the assurance, yesterday, when the Commander of Sector 2, Joint Task Force, Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), Maj-Gen. Mayirenso Saraso, and Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Adamu Zakari, visited Government House, Damaturu.

He said the operational synergy among security agencies, in collaboration with civilians, led to the defeat of Boko Haram terrorists and restoration of peace in the state.

Already, he noted, the state is now peaceful, as people travel to for their business and farming activities without any disturbance on roads, markets and farmlands.

“Former President Muhammadu Buhari visited our state last January and passed the night in Damaturu, the state capital, without taking any measures for his safety,” noted the Governor. He added that there were neither roadblocks nor stop-and-search operations throughout Buhari’s visit to Yobe.
