Prudential Zenith Life Insurance Limited has donated 200 overalls and 100 traffic cones to the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) to improve the safety of sanitation workers and support waste management operations across Lagos.
The donation, made to mark World Environment Day 2026, is aimed at improving workers’ protection and visibility during field operations, while reducing safety risks for sanitation crews and other road users.
Executive Director and Chief Operations Officer of Prudential Zenith Life Insurance, Samuel Ohonusi, said a healthy environment was essential to building resilient communities and supporting sustainable economic activity.
He said the partnership was designed to support the safety and dignity of sanitation workers whose daily activities contribute to public health and the effective functioning of Lagos.
“Our partnership with LAWMA is an investment in the safety and dignity of those who keep Lagos clean, and in the wellbeing of the people who depend on a safer, more organised city,” Ohonusi said.
He added that the donated equipment would help protect workers and strengthen the systems that enable communities to thrive.
Receiving the items, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of LAWMA, Muyiwa Gbadegesin, said the equipment would improve the safety and visibility of sanitation personnel during operations.
Gbadegesin commended the insurer for the support, describing the partnership as a contribution to efforts to build a cleaner and safer Lagos. He also urged other organisations to support initiatives aimed at improving environmental sanitation and public safety.
The intervention forms part of Prudential Zenith Life Insurance’s commitment to environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles, particularly workplace safety, environmental sustainability and community development.
World Environment Day is observed annually to promote environmental awareness and encourage action towards protecting the environment.
