Director of International Press Centre (IPC), Lanre Arogundade, has condemned the crackdown on journalists by the Federal Government.

He also criticised the arrest of Editor-in-Chief/Publisher of Cross River Watch, Mr. Agba Jalingo, who was reportedly whisked away from Lagos to Calabar over his publication on the state’s microfinance bank, a matter meant to be discussed last Monday.

Arogundade, in a statement, condemned the arrest, noting that “detaining a reporter for doing their job of informing the public is an abuse of power and human rights violation.”

He observed that Jalingo had been detained for more than 48 hours without arraignment.
