Plans to establish an online platform that will enable Freedom of Information (FoI) desk officers from federal public institutions share information on the implementation of the FoI have been concluded.

In a statement made available to The Guardian, yesterday, in Jalingo, Taraba State, the Executive Director of International Press Centre (IPC), Lanre Arogundade, and his counterpart from the Media Rights Agenda (MRA), Edetaen Ojo, noted that “relevant plans are already in place” to bring together all the desk officers to brainstorm on the proposed online platform.

Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), they said, has as well signified interest to deliver the keynote address at the exercise slated for today and Wednesday in Abuja.

Expected to have representatives from over 60 public institutions, the exercise is to be organised by IPC, in collaboration with MRA and the FOI Unit of the Federal Ministry of Justice.

The project, The Guardian gathered, is funded by the European Union (EU) under Component 4b: Support to Media of the EU Support to Democratic Governance in Nigeria (EU-SDGN) Project.
