Iwuanyanwu should be celebrated for his accomplishments, say Uzodimma, Okorocha

Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, and his predecessor, Rochas Okorocha, yesterday, advised that elder statesman, Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, should be celebrated for his accomplishments at 79.

Uzodimma stated this during a thanksgiving service for the septuagenarian officiated by Bishop Emmanuel Maduwike at St. Matthew’s Anglican Cathedral, Atta Ikeduru, Imo State, while Okorocha made his position known in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Sam Onwuemeodo.

Uzodimma stressed that the businessman, who recently announced his exit from active politics, had invested in human capital development, noting that Imo State and Nigeria were lucky to have him.

“Iwuanyanwu is an accomplished man, a leader, a politician, successful businessman, a traditionalist, and a kind and generous man. Imo people and Nigerians are grateful to God for his life because he is a man who represents success in every aspect of life, hence the need to honour him,” he said.

The governor, who added that all the people Iwuanyanwu trained were successful like him, said urged Imo people and Nigerians to pray for Iwuanyanwu to make him feel good by celebrating his successes.

“Nobody celebrates himself and Iwuanyanwu cannot ask anyone to celebrate him. He is one of Imo’s best. He should be celebrated for his good and accomplished life. We pray God to give him the strength to continue to be with us so that the support and services he rendered to humanity will continue to endure,” he stated.

Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prof. Placid Njoku, President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Prof. George Obiozor, his predecessor, Chief Nnia Nwodo, government officials, and friends of the governor, were among those who attended the event.

On his part, Okorocha, who now represents lmo West Senatorial District, joined Nigerians to felicitate with lwuanyanwu on his 79th birthday anniversary, describing him as a selfless and patriotic statesman.

He said lwuanyanwu’s investments in human capital would always be remembered by all and sundry, adding that the celebrator had paid his dues in all ramifications to attract posterity’s fair evaluation.

He wished Chief lwuanyanwu good health and prayed that God Almighty should bless him with more years ahead.

Responding, Iwuanyanwu commended all who felicitated with him and expressed delight that Uzodimma made an Ikedurru man from his council his deputy.
