Jegede meets party supporters, says ‘no conspiracy can stop me’
The factional candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Eyitayo Jegede, yesterday met the party leaders in Akure, promising to surmount the conspiracy against him.
He urged the people to continue their house-to-house campaign, adding that no manipulation from any quarter would stop the will of God for the state.
Jegede explained that he was fighting a genuine battle and would be vindicated at the end.
The party leaders who spoke at the meeting promised to continue their support for Jegede.
The meeting was attended by party chieftains among whom were Prof. Olu Agbi, Omolade Oluwateru, Dr. Adewumi Abitoye, Eddy Olafeso and Segun Adegoke. Others were Olu Ogidan, Dr. Bode Iwaloye, Saka Lawal and Bamiduro Dada.
Members of the state House of Assembly, chairmen of the 18 local council areas, the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Jumoke Akindele and Women Leader, Esther Ebiwonjumi also attended the meeting.
The state governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, who addressed the gathering in a telephone conversation from Abuja, promised that Jegede would be victorious in the judicial process and at the polls.
Jegede’s running mate, John Ola Mafo and the party’s state Chairman, Clement Faboyede thanked the people for their support and steadfastness.
Faboyede urged the members to continue to campaign from ward to ward, unit to unit and house to house.
