The Coalition of Buhari Support Groups in Jigawa on Sunday cleared the air over alleged stand of Gov. Muhammad Badaru on the 2023 governorship primaries in the state.

Mr Musa Guri, Chairman, Coalition of Buhari Support Groups in Jigawa, made the clarification in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Dutse.

The group’s reaction was sequel to a publication on the groups leadership’s visit to Badaru’s office on Friday.

Guri said that Badaru was misquoted by a section of media which allegedly reported that the “governor could only support a 2023 governorship aspirant in the state chosen by President Muhammadu Buhari.”

He said that there was never a time during the visit when Badaru made known his stand on the 2023 governorship aspirants in Jigawa.

“The governor is only saying that he is going to support any presidential aspirant supported by President Muhammadu Buhari and not a governorship aspirant in Jigawa State as reported in the media,” Guri said.

He, therefore, urged Jigawa residents to ignore such report and reassured of his groups’ determination toward protecting the people’s choice by ensuring transparency during the 2023 primary elections in the state.

The chairman also said that the groups would longer support some political appointees and elected officials who betrayed the people’s trust.
