The Jigawa State government says a whopping N413 million has been set aside to purchase 50 motorcycles and four vehicles in line with its ongoing effort to checkmate the rising tide of insecurity in the state.

In a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information, Youths, Sports, and Culture, Sagir Musa, on Tuesday, the State Executive Council, chaired by Governor Umar Namadi, approved the purchase to enhance patrol and the fight against crimes in the state.

Musa said the council also approved N304 million for the procurement of seven official and utility vehicles for the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, to ensure effective project monitoring and evaluation by the ministry.

According to him, the SEC also approved the implementation of key recommendations from the Majia Petrol Tanker Explosion Investigation Committee to avert future occurrences of such tragic incidents in the state.

“The council has set up a nine-member committee to further develop an implementation plan for the short, medium, and long-term modalities, to be chaired by the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning,” Musa said.
