Jigawa governor orders renovation of Kiyawa General Hospital

Governor Umar Namadi Danmodi has directed the immediate and full-scale renovation of Kiyawa General Hospital, which has fallen into a dilapidated state.

The governor gave the order on Sunday during the 21st edition of his Citizens Engagement Programme, Gwamnati Da Jama’a, where he paid an unscheduled visit to the hospital.

Governor Namadi pledged that the facility would be restored to a standard capable of providing quality healthcare services to the people of Kiyawa.

Before proceeding to the main venue of the engagement programme, the governor flagged off the construction of the 17.5km Andaza–Duhuwa–KatangaBaranda road project, awarded to Radok Construction Nigeria Limited for ₦2.8 billion.

He also commissioned a ₦30 million renovation project at Federal Government College, Kiyawa, sponsored by Ambassador Halima Z. Sulaiman.

Speaking at the road project flag-off, Governor Namadi reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to completing all multibillion-naira road projects within one year, noting that most of the state’s feeder roads are already over 70 percent completed.

The governor’s visit drew massive crowds, with residents lining the streets from Shuwarin Bridge to Kiyawa town, cheering and welcoming him with enthusiasm.

As part of the programme, state officials presented scorecards of their ministries, agencies, and offices, outlining projects executed within Kiyawa LGA.

Community leaders also submitted a compendium of priority needs for government consideration and presented symbolic gifts, including kola nuts, dates, fish, and a bull, representing the major occupations and livelihoods of the people.

In his remarks, Governor Namadi said the large turnout was a testament to the strong bond between the people of Jigawa State and the All Progressives Congress (APC).
