Jigawa to acquire over 200,000 land solar power energy

The Federal Government, in collaboration with Morocco and Jigawa State government, is working towards providing Solar Powered Initiatives for enhancement of solar power energy to boost power utilisation in North-West zone and other parts of the country, Jigawa State Commissioner for Land, Housing, Urban and Regional Planning, Sagir Musa Ahmed, has disclosed.

Ahmed, who stated this while featuring at the Media Engagement Forum of the Jigawa State Correspondent Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) at Manpower Development Institute in Dutse, said the planned project would be sited in Gwiwa Local Council of the state with an estimated 200,000 hectres of land allocation for the project.

According to him, the power solar energy is an initiative of Moroccan government, in collaboration with the Federal Government and Jigawa State government specifically to improve power supply in the country, especially in states like Zamfara, Jigawa, Katsina and Yobe states. It is expected to assist in advancement of power generation in the aforementioned states and the country in general.

He stated that under the proposed project, the present administration is committed and working towards actualising the desired objectives due to its significance.

The commissioner further said that the ministry had also allocated 934,000 hectres of land for industrial purposes, 934,000 hectres for state and federal institutions, while 192,000 hectres of land was designated for hospital expansion and construction.

“What we are focusing now was how to project our advancement in the next 10 years under a successful and efficient land administration system.

“Our plan was how to have a robust town planning initiatives in our five Emirate Councils in future to look more of a developed modern cities in the near future,” he said.

On the achievements of his ministry, the commissioner said the state government had issued over 1,920 Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) certificates to rightful land-owners through systematic land administration procedure, designing and approving the provision of 500 housing units in major towns across the 27 local councils in Jigawa State.
