Positively disrupting society with some very strategic theatre productions, Joseph Edgar, also known as The Duke of Shomolu, is 50 this July.

Joseph, in the last three years, has morphed from a sedate investment banker to a rapidly influential writer, author and theatre producer, who maintains a weekly column, Loudwhispers.

Still basking in the euphoria of his last play, 3SOME, a Jude Idada-written and directed vehicle that touched on taboo issues, such as emotional infidelity, love, lust and marriage amongst others, The Duke is gearing up to deliver Emotan, the highly emotional play about the famed Bini pseudo deity. The play would be screened in Lagos and Benin, the Edo State capital, in December.

Joseph is marking his birthday with a special Afang Summit, where celebrated satirist and cartoonist, Mike Asuquo, would be leading discussions on “The Role of Satire in Building National Cohesion.”

Edgar would also present a satirical book at the event.
