Judge revokes bail, orders arrest of ex-gov Aliyu, Nasko

Former Niger State Governor, Babangida Aliyu

Justice A. B. Aliyu of the Federal High Court in Minna, Niger State, yesterday revoked the bail granted to former Niger State Governor Babangida Aliyu and former gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Umar Gado Nasko.

This was contained in a statement issued in Abuja by Acting Spokesman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Tony Orilade.

Justice Aliyu, who was angry at the absence of Aliyu and Nasko in court despite the issuance of hearing notice, also ordered a bench warrant on them for disrespecting the court.

The EFCC is prosecuting Aliyu and Nasko for their alleged involvement in N2 billion money laundering and other financial crimes.

They were formerly arraigned before Justice Bogoro Yelin where they pleaded not guilty to the alleged offence.
