Govt promises to build new palace for Obaro of Kabba
The people of Kabba, at the weekend, trooped out in hundreds as Obaro of Kabba and Chairman, Okun Area Traditional Council, Oba (Dr.) Solomon Dele Owoniyi, buried his father, Pa Timothy Ajayi Owoniyi.
The Owoniyi died in Ile-Ife, Osun State, on December 2, 2021, at the age of 90 years.
Eminent personalities, traditional rulers, politicians and top government functionaries graced the occasion.
Kogi State Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, Idris Asiwaju, who was the chairman of the planning committee, in his speech, thanked the people for gracing the occasion.
He said that the Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, would always give respect to traditional rulers in the state because of their role in maintaining peace in their various domains.
Besides, he gave the assurance that the state government would soon build a befitting palace for the Obaro of Kabba.
He, therefore, urged everyone to rally around the governor for more dividends of democracy.
Also speaking, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Salami Ozigi, who represented the governor, said the government had been able to achieve good relations with the royal institution in the state.
He said the state government would continue to work hand in hand with all the traditional rulers in the state.
According to him, the father of the monarch died at a good old age of 90 years, having been able to bring up a great son in the person of the Obaaro of Kabbaland.
