President Muhammadu Buhari’s in-law and All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant in Kaduna State, Sani Sha’aban, has dumped the ruling party.

In a letter to the APC chairman, Hanwa Ward, Sabon Garin Local Council, and read by the Director General of Sha’aban Sani Campaign Organisation, Joshua Ephraim, yesterday, Sha’aban said he decided to leave the party because some elements hijacked the party structure in the state and turned it into their personal estate.

He wrote: “They have no regard for the feelings, yearnings and sensibilities of even the members of the party who supported them and the general populace of Kaduna.

“On good governance, we are treated with disdain and seen as a pariah to those who personally benefit from the skewed realities present in the party. My many admonitions, advice, protests and best efforts at salvaging the party to bring it back into focus to achieve its set objectives have been ignored by you.”

Pointing out that there is a limit to what he can do as a party member, he believes he had, in all conscience, done his best to stave off the inevitable, to no avail.

He added: “I have come to the firm conclusion and resolve that in all good conscience, I cannot remain a member of APC under the present state of affairs where the interest of the majority has little regard.

“I cannot remain in the APC when the party has no respect for the rule of law and simplest of the laws of the land. Therefore, I officially resign my membership of the APC at all levels from November 28, 2022.”

He thanked the party for the opportunity given to him to participate in the activities of the party while he was a member.

On his next step, he said he was still consulting with his people, and would soon declare where to pitch their tent with his supporters.
