Kaduna clerics arrested for holding Jumat prayers

Kaduna State Government has arrested two clerics for violating the restriction on movement and holding of congregational Jumat prayers in the state on Friday.

The state government said it was ready to enforce the stay-at-home order and anyone who violates the law will be prosecuted.

In a statement, the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, said the state government had arrested two clerics for conducting congregational prayers on Friday, in two communities.

The two clerics arrested, according to Aruwan, were Malam Aminu Umar Usman and Malam Umar Shangel in Malali and Ungwan Kanawa communities of Kaduna North Local Government. He added that their conduct violated government orders, as well as advice given by leaders of faith, and that they would be prosecuted accordingly.
