The Governor of Kaduna, Senator Uba Sani, has declared that the security in Birnin Gwari, a terrorist-ridden area, has stabilised under his administration. He also flagged off the construction of a 35.6-kilometre road linking 62 agrarian communities in the area to the market.

Sani stated that the security efforts in the troubled Birnin Gwari Local Government Area were yielding positive results.

He commended the various agencies enforcing security in the area, noting that there has been stability, especially on the highway, for the past six months.

The Guardian gathered that relative peace has returned to many communities along the Kaduna-Birnin Gwari route, with farmers seen working in their fields. Governor Sani expressed confidence that, with sustained security operations, the economy of Birnin Gwari would rebound in the near future.

Speaking on the 35.6-kilometre road project, which is set to start from Bagoma to Gagumi through Ungwan Fari, Idi Labo, Awaro, Tashan Keji, and Sabon Layi, Governor Sani said the road would link 62 farming communities to the market when completed.

He said that his administration prioritises rural transformation to boost the economy of rural communities and minimise rural-urban migration.

He said, “My presence here to flag off the reconstruction of this 35.6 km road marks the beginning of the restoration of peace and stability to this long-suffering and troubled local government.”

Sani also said Birnin Gwari’s strategic importance as a major gateway to many parts of Nigeria, rich in resources, mineral deposits, and arable land for farming. He acknowledged the challenges posed by the large forest in the area but stressed that progress was being made in stabilising the situation.

The governor further stated that his administration’s rural transformation drive was rapidly gathering momentum.

They are addressing infrastructural deficits, bridging the urban-rural divide, reinventing local economies, boosting agriculture, and improving rural living conditions. Sani also noted that infrastructure development, especially road infrastructure, was prioritised to enhance economic development and enable security agencies to respond swiftly to emergencies.

Since assuming office in 2023, Sani’s administration has launched 62 road projects across Kaduna State, totalling 817 kilometres. Some roads have been completed and commissioned, while others are in advanced stages of completion.

The Emir of Birnin Gwari, Malam Subair Jibril Maigwari II, expressed appreciation to the Governor and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for fulfilling their promises to bring developmental projects to the neglected Birnin Gwari Local Government Area.
