Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani

Reaffirms Welfare Commitment

Governor Uba Sani has approved the disbursement of ₦4.289 billion to settle pension obligations, gratuities, and death benefits for retired civil servants and families of deceased workers in Kaduna State.

The payment, which covers both the Contributory Pension Scheme and the Defined Benefit Scheme, is part of ongoing efforts by the state government to reduce outstanding liabilities and strengthen social protection for retirees.

In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Ahmed Maiyaki, the approval was described as a reflection of the administration’s continued focus on people-oriented governance and the welfare of senior citizens.

According to Maiyaki, the initiative goes beyond financial settlement, stressing that it represents a deliberate effort to restore dignity to retirees and acknowledge their years of service to the state.

He noted that the latest disbursement forms part of a sustained strategy to address accumulated pension arrears while rebuilding trust in the state’s pension framework.

“With this release, the total amount paid since the inception of this administration has risen to ₦17.796 billion, benefiting over 8,300 retirees and next of kin of deceased workers,” he said.

The Kaduna State Government added that the move aligns with broader reforms targeted at improving fiscal discipline, promoting transparency, and ensuring long-term sustainability in public finance management.

It further assured that measures are being strengthened to guarantee prompt settlement of pension obligations, while maintaining a stable and reliable pension system for current and future retirees.

The administration reiterated its commitment to ensuring that public servants exit service with dignity, financial security, and a sense of fulfilment after years of contribution to the state.
