Again, armed bandits, yesterday, laid siege on Kaduna-Zaria Highway. They kidnapped a serving member of the Kaduna House of Assembly and took him to an unknown destination, just as the State Police Command immediately dispatched its officials to trail the kidnappers.

The lawmaker, Suleiman Ibrahim Sabo, representing Zaria Constituency in the State House of Assembly, was driving along the Kaduna-Zaria Highway when he was waylaid by the kidnappers.

The unfortunate incident occurred, just 72 hours after three Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) students and some passengers were abducted along Abuja-Kaduna Highway. The students were released on payment of N5.5 million ransom.

Besides, the Kaduna State Command Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Yakubu Sabo in a statement confirming the kidnap of the legislator, yesterday, said: “On 30/08/19 at about 0030hrs, the Command received an information through DPO, Mararraban Jos, that a Toyota Camry with Reg No ZAR 972 TL was found parked without occupants at a point near Farakwai Village along Kad -Zaria Expressway.”

According to him, “ Patrol Teams were immediately dispatched to the area and recovered the vehicle to station”, saying “upon search,  an ID Card bearing Suleiman Ibrahim Dabo, a member of Kaduna State House of Assembly,  representing Zaria Constituency was found.”

Sabo explained further: “ A contact was made and it was confirmed that he (Sabo) was the person involved in the incident. Team’s of conventional Police, PMF personnel, SARS and anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Command are currently combing the bush for possible rescue of the victim and arresting the criminals. 
“The IGP’S IRT was also contacted for technical support in tracking the hoodlums,”  DSP Sabo added.
