KAI arrests 49 miscreants, illegal street traders in Lagos

The Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC) patrol team, also called KAI, arrested 49 miscreants and illegal street traders in different parts of Victoria Island on Monday.

Operatives of LAGESC patrolled Idowu Martins, Ozumba Mbadiwe, Akin Adesola, Samuel Manuwa, Muri Okunola, Ajose Adeogun, Lugard Avenue, Macdonald Road and other areas in Ikoyi and Victoria Island on Monday night.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Waha, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday morning.

He noted that this patrol was geared towards enhancing security and maintaining order across the mentioned neighbourhoods.

“In the course of the patrols, 49 miscreants and illegal street traders were apprehended, reinforcing our commitment to ensuring a safe and orderly environment for residents and businesses,” said Wahab.

The commissioner also expressed optimism about the return of sanity and peace in the neighbourhoods patrolled by the sanitation corps.

“I am pleased to report that calm and sanity are gradually returning to Ikoyi and Victoria Island.”

He urged residents of Lagos State to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.

“Your continued cooperation is vital—if you notice any suspicious activity, do not hesitate to report it,” he added.
