Kano approves N89.7m for procurement of four dialysis machines

Kano State Government has approved N89,710,080.00 for the procurement of four dialysis machines for Abubakar I Am Urology Centre to strengthen the medical capacity of the state-owned facility.

Similarly, the government approved N165,637,550.00 for the procurement of dental equipment and materials for basic healthcare services (Phase II) in the state.

The approvals were part of the resolutions passed by the executive at the 38th State Executive Council Meeting held on Sunday at the government house.

Addressing journalists on the outcome of the council, Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Abdullahi Ibrahim Waiya, revealed that the approvals on health stem from Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s commitment to enhancing healthcare delivery in the state.

Waiya explained that the council also approved similar executive approvals in other sectors, including Infrastructure, Rural and Community Development, and Environment, among others.

On infrastructure, the commissioner announced that the council approved general renovation and completion of works at the Kano State Fire Service Headquarters, Kofar Nassarawa, at a cost of N241,302,554.21.

Similarly, N122,077,885.53 was approved for additional works on the ongoing renovation of Hasiya Bayero Paediatric Hospital located at Kofar Kudu near the Emir’s Palace, and N119,952,625.22 was also approved for the maintenance of Rimin Auzinawa Road in Ungogo Local Government Area, Waiya said.

“The construction of Ladanai Road Network also received approval with the sum of N184,350,183.48. In addition, N13,200,000,000.00 was approved for the implementation of the 2026 Constituency Projects across the state.

“Council equally approved N483,608,773.80 for additional works on the ongoing renovation of the Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy. The council also approved N178,101,108.44 for the construction of a wall fence, security room and installation of solar street lights at the historic Dala Hill,” Waiya added.

The commissioner further disclosed that several approvals granted to the Ministry of Rural and Community Development include N120,083,280.31 for the construction of a 4km road with a two-coat surface dressing, culverts, and drainage linking Masku–Andawa–Yafata in Gezawa Local Government Area.

He said the council also approved N1,068,848,712.16 for the construction of feeder roads in Bichi, Dambatta, Garko, and Takai Local Government Areas. Additionally, the Commissioner announced the approval of N368,229,186 for the construction of a 4km, two-coat surface dressing road with two cross culverts from Tumbau to Musku in Gezawa Local Government Area.

On policy decision, Waiya confirmed the council’s approval for the award of contract for the construction of AKK Industrial Parks, repair of all vehicles and buses under the Girl Child Initiative to ensure their effective operation across the metropolitan area, to be handled by the Ministry of Transportation.

He added that the council further approved the implementation of a mass vaccination exercise for sheep and goats across the 44 Local Government Areas to prevent contagious livestock diseases.

“Additionally, the council approved the amendment of the Kano State Private and Voluntary Institutions Board Law, 2014, and directed that it be transmitted to the Kano State House of Assembly for legislative action.

“Council also approved the Kano State Electricity Bill 2026 and directed that it be forwarded to the State House of Assembly for passage into law. Furthermore, the council approved the allocation of residential plots to each of the 750 households affected by the ongoing 330KVA transmission line project across multiple locations in the state.

“Council equally approved the extension of water supply from the Challawa main pipeline to Zawaciki Gabas within Greater Kano in Kumbotso Local Government Area. The Council also approved the implementation of harmonised operational guidelines for the reform and review of the Kano State Qualifying Examination,” Waiya confirmed
