Kano Assembly rejects appointment of Auditor-General
KANO State House of Assembly has rejected the appointment of Ismaila Musa as the state’s substantive Auditor-General.
The Speaker, Hamisu Chidari, read the letter on the floor of the House during plenary in Kano, yesterday. After deliberations, the House rejected the confirmation of Musa who has been on acting capacity.
Majority Leader of House, Abdul Madari, said the House rejected the appointment of Musa based on constitutional infringement. He cited Section 126 (1,2) of the Constitution, which states that the Auditor-General should be appointed on acting capacity, pending his confirmation by the House.
