The Kano Concerned Citizens Movement (KCCM), a non-partisan group of intellectuals and professionals dedicated to promoting good governance and social development, has awarded its prestigious Leadership Excellence Award to Abdulsalam Abdulkarim Zaura, popularly known as AA Zaura, a prominent philanthropist and All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain from Kano State.
Zaura, the President of the AA Zaura Foundation International and the APC Kano Central Senatorial Candidate in the 2023 general elections, was recognised for his outstanding contributions to economic empowerment and developmental initiatives targeting youth and women in Kano State.
At a recent ceremony in Abuja, KCCM leader Prof. Garba Shehu presented the award, praising Zaura’s steadfast commitment to humanitarian causes through his foundation. “We conducted an extensive search and received several nominations from across Kano. After a rigorous selection process by our board and members, you emerged the winner among several other notable personalities,” Shehu told Zaura.
Shehu further stated, “We present this award to you in recognition of your integrity, leadership excellence, and impactful work in championing humanitarian interventions, particularly in the development and empowerment of youths and women.” He noted that while many individuals from Kano are making significant contributions, “AA Zaura stands out as a selfless and compassionate leader whose benevolence transcends political interests.”
The event drew community leaders, youth representatives, and civil society members, who commended KCCM’s initiative and celebrated Zaura’s ongoing impact in the region.
In his acceptance speech, Zaura expressed gratitude to KCCM for acknowledging his efforts to improve the lives of the less privileged in Kano State. “This award is very beautiful, but the reason for it is even more exciting. I thank Almighty Allah for the opportunity to continue to contribute to the development of Kano State through our numerous socio-economic impact projects,” he said.
He added, “Recognitions like this from respected elders and intellectual leaders such as the Kano Concerned Citizens Movement are a great encouragement to me and my team.” Zaura emphasised that such honours affirm that his efforts are being noticed and appreciated, motivating him to further his work.
This accolade is the latest in a series of honours bestowed upon Zaura, who has been consistently recognised by notable organisations for his dedication to social development, philanthropy, and community empowerment through the AA Zaura Foundation International, a non-governmental organisation focused on humanitarian and developmental projects.
