According to the police spokesman, DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the command received the report, after which a team of intelligence officers was deployed. He said the baby was recovered successfully and culprits arrested in less than 12 hours after the incident.
“The Police on 08/09/2021, at about 0300hrs, received complaints from one Muhammad of Gayawa Quarters, Ungogo LGA Kano, that at about 0130hrs, one of his newly-born male twin babies was missing. “Although the search in the hospital could not produce the child at that point, sustained efforts, coupled with intelligence sharing, led to the arrest of one Maryam and her husband, Abubakar, all of Rijiyar Zaki Quarters, Kano. The Child was recovered from them in their home.”
The Police, however, disclosed that preliminary investigation revealed that Maryam, alleged to be the prime suspect has confessed to stealing the baby at the General hospital.
