To curb the menace of kidnapping and armed robbery in Kano State, Governor Abdullahi Ganduje has inaugurated Rano Council Community Policing Committees to complement the police and other security operatives, especially in the southern part of the state.

While inaugurating the committees over the weekend, Ganduje said the state-sponsored the training of 5,504-men police constabulary in the state.

He said: “Our administration found it necessary to support community participation in the security of our state. We have gone further by recruiting police constabulary to assist the security agencies. Also, we are assisting the various community policing committees.

“We trained in Kaduna 704 graduates of Police Constabulary. Also, for each of the 36 local councils, we are training 100-men police constabulary, making a total of 3,600.”

The state is also reportedly training 150 in each of the eight metropolitan local councils, making 1,200.

“With 4,800 police constables, in addition to 704 that have already been trained, all stand at 5,504 now at hand,” he added.
