A source in the area, who confirmed the release of the monarch, said he was receiving medical attention at a government hospital in the state capital.

It is uncertain if the ransom was paid before his release.

The monarch is the father of a permanent secretary in the governor’s office, Alhaji Kasimu Ibrahim, popularly known as Simo.

The family expressed gratitude to sympathisers who stood by them while the monarch was in captivity, The Guardian learnt.
