Kebbi State government has officially confirmed the death of the Emir of Zuru, Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Sani Sami (rtd).
 
The traditional ruler was said to have passed on Saturday night at 81 years old.
 
The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Garba Umar-Dutsinmari, made the confirmation in a statement issued to newsmen yesterday.
 
The monarch died in a London hospital after an illness, the statement said.
 
The former military general was said to have left behind four wives and seven children.
 
The Kebbi State government extended its heartfelt condolences to his immediate family members, Zuru Emirate Council, Zuru people, and the entire people of Kebbi State.
 
“May the Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him Jannatul Firdaus,” it read.
