Adeleke-led Tinubu campaign won’t succeed in Osun without us – Oyetola camp

Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola

Fresh intrigues have emerged over the Osun State chapter of President Bola Tinubu’s re-election Campaign Council led by Governor Ademola Adeleke, as a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state and strong loyalist of former Governor Gboyega Oyetola has warned that the council will not succeed without carrying the Oyetola camp along.

In a video circulating on Facebook, the APC chieftain, speaking in Yoruba and said to be a supporter of Oyetola who is the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, declared that the Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) structure announced by Adeleke cannot deliver Osun for President Tinubu if key APC leaders are sidelined.

The warning came as Governor Adeleke on Thursday, October 22, 2026, inaugurated a 344-member campaign council for Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid at the Oasis Event Centre, Osogbo.

Prominent APC leaders including Oyetola, Osun APC Chairman Tajudeen Lawal, and the party’s 2026 governorship candidate Bola Oyebamiji were conspicuously absent at the inauguration.

The Osun APC had hours before the inauguration accused Adeleke’s camp of sidelining leaders, saying party leaders learnt about the planned inauguration through a list released on social media by Adeleke’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, less than 12 hours before the event.

Lawal in a statement said: “Our concern is that things should be done in a proper way to achieve desired results.”

Adeleke was named Osun State Coordinator of Tinubu’s Presidential Campaign Council in a revised list released on October 13, replacing Oyetola, despite Adeleke being a member of the Accord Party. The move followed Adeleke’s endorsement of Tinubu for a second term.

The 344-member council draws members from APC, PDP and Accord and includes former Osun Governor Bisi Akande, APC National Secretary Ajibola Basiru, former APC National Secretary Iyiola Omisore, Senators Jide Omoworare, Sola Adeyeye and others.

However, the APC chieftain, while being interviewed by journalists in the video, insisted that without genuine reconciliation and involvement of Oyetola’s political structure which controls the core APC machinery in the state, the Adeleke-led council would be a mere paper tiger.

Former Governor Bisi Akande who attended the inauguration, however, had urged South-West voters to support Tinubu, while Basiru called on stakeholders to set aside personal ambitions and work with Adeleke.

The development has exposed the deep crack within Osun APC ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
