As part of activities for its 13th-year anniversary celebration, ENigeria Newspaper has announced the rights lawyer and Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo (SAN), as host of its ENigeria Night of Honour (ENOH) 2021.

Speaking at press conference in Lagos to announce the event, the Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of ENigeria, Desmond Ike–Chima, said guests that would grace the five-in-one event billed to hold on Saturday, October 30, at the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Event Centre, Kofo Abayomi Street, off Ozumba Mbadiwe, Victoria Island, will be treated to an evening of high octane celebration with a colourful ambience of live music performances, comedy, awards and general entertainment.

The event will also feature an all-celebrity discussion segment with six celebrity panelists entitled: ‘Brand Ambassador, Influencer Market and the Social Media Revolution.’ The high point of the occasion will be the formal unveiling of all-colour print edition of ENigeria Newspaper, which is a 70 per cent entertainment Newspaper with 30 per cent general interest news.

Explaining the reason for the celebration, Ike-Chima said, “ENigeria Newspaper is celebrating 13 years of excellence in the media space. The journey for us at ENigeria began 13 years ago when the need arose for an authoritative journal that focuses on essential parts of the society including but limited to entertainment, lifestyle and politics.”

He noted that ENigeria Newspaper had its debut under its first moniker, Report Nigeria, at a period when many Nigerians were content to print editions of daily news reportage.

“The brand continued to acquire traction, and its audience base quickly expanded, resulting in a rebranding exercise in 2011, which gave rise to our new identity as ENigeria Newspaper,” Ike-Chima said.

“ENigeria has not only taken the front row in digital news reporting but also wears another badge of journalism honour as it has concluded plans to publish its first edition of a hardcopy, in respect of its high values for standard, professionalism and integrity. We still have a long way ahead and we are happy that our esteemed readers will still be there for us.”

On the rationale behind the awards, the media entrepreneur said, “We are upwardly mobile outfit in media practice with the common desire of public interest communication, and developmental journalism that seeks to put Nigeria at the centre of Africa and world affairs.

“As a recognised media outlet in Nigeria, we saw the need to celebrate prominent players in the entertainment industry and other Nigerians who have dedicated their trade and talent to making our country proud.”

The awardees for the night include Lateef Adedimeji – Face of Nollywood male category, Iniobong Edo – Face of Nollywood female category, Ayo Animashaun – Face of Media, Pamilerin Adegoke – Face of Influencer Marketing in Nigeria, and Moses Inwang – Most Tenacious Nollywood Personality.

Others are Johnson Chukwu of Cowry Asset Management – ENigeria Man of the Year, Folake Oyemade of Sam & Sara Garment factory – ENigeria Woman of the Year, Mele Kyari, GMD NNPC – Accountability in Public Service and Ehi Ogebor – ENigeria CEO of the Year.

On the choice of Keyamo as host, Ike-Chima stated that there is no better person fit for the job than the Minister, as he understands the Nigerian entertainment industry very well as an entertainment lawyer.

According to him, stars on parade for the event include frontline music artistes J. Martins, Humble Smith, Austino Milado and the Lavolta Band, while comedian Funny Bone and Omini will entertain with rib-cracking jokes.
