The National Superintendent and the Resident Pastor Kingsway International Christian Centre (KICC) Maryland, Lagos, Pastor Femi Faseru has debunked rumours that the founder and president of the church Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo quit preaching to face his real estate business.

Faseru in a statement on Tuesday, said the 71-year-old televangelist had no any plan to quit his service as a preacher in the “Lord’s vineyard”.

He added that Pastor Ashimolowo still preaches, between three and four times in different parts of the world.

“Pastor Ashimolowo has not backed down on his busy schedule which requires him to Minister daily on ‘Morning Glow’ to people in over 50 nations,” Faseru said.

“Rather than backpedal, the Senior Pastor of KICC is taking on fresh challenges. He has just established another independent ministry-Christ Compassion to the Rural World, which is planning a crusade for Ikorodu in Lagos State, next November.

“Ashimolowo gets better each passing year, as he has been preaching more than when he was younger, easily accomplishing nine services every week. These include five Morning Glows, three Sunday Services and Bible Study.

“There is no iota of truth in the insinuation that Ashimolowo may have quit preaching the gospel to concentrate on real estate business. The report as absolutely baseless.”

He said Ashimolowo held the ground breaking of The Makarios Luxury Place, an upmarket mixed development seated on 33 hectares in Ibeju Lekki area of Lagos State, with fanfare in February 2023.

“This project may be what mischief makers have taken out of context, without cross-checking available information. This type of journalism skirts the border of decency and injures the reputation of the victim, while courting libel to the publisher.

“To be sure, Ashimolowo remains a proud soldier of Christ, preaching His gospel with renewed enthusiasm as he has done for close to 50 years.”

Ashimolowo had in January 2022, during one of his telecast, Winning Ways, announced his first son, Tobi Ashimolowo, as Resident Pastor 2 of the KICC in London. Tobi, he stated will be assisting his mother, Yemisi Ashimolowo, who has been the resident pastor at the church for a long time.

In the video, Ashimolowo said, “In a very major way from this morning, we will no longer have one resident pastor. Yemisi has always been our resident pastor, so she will be Resident Pastor 1. Our new resident pastor is Pastor Tobi Ashimolowo. So, he is our Resident Pastor 2; he has to take some serious responsibility from now on. These guys are retiring their father.”

He prayed that his son will be anointed and favoured by God, and that God will use him to draw his own generation to God, and to shake systems. Tobi is the founder of the Vault, a high-end store for men’s wear and accessories.
