Kwara gov inspects Remi Tinubu Hospital, pledges completion in 2026

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has inspected construction work at the multistorey Oluremi Tinubu Hospital in Ilorin, pledging that the multi-billion-naira project will be completed in the second quarter of next year. The visit came only days after he approved an additional ₦20 billion for the upgrade of public school infrastructure across Kwara State.

Speaking to journalists at the site, AbdulRazaq described the hospital as one of several people-focused projects being undertaken by his administration in health, education, roads and social investment. He said the facility, named after the wife of President Bola Tinubu, would be fitted with advanced medical equipment, including MRI and CT scanners, radiography machines and PET scan technology, much of which had already been ordered.

The governor linked the spate of project execution across states to increased federal revenue following the removal of fuel subsidy. He cited similar large-scale hospital developments in Lagos, Kaduna and Katsina as examples of how subnational governments are now able to invest more heavily in public services.

AbdulRazaq stressed that work was progressing on multiple fronts beyond healthcare. He listed ongoing rural road projects in Asa Local Government and other parts of the state, such as the Oro–Arandun Road, the Ajase-Ipo–Oke Ode route, Omu–Aran–Okok Road, and access roads to tourist destinations like Owu Waterfall. He noted that investments in education, though less visible than roads, were equally significant, with new funding aimed at tackling longstanding infrastructural deficits in schools.

The governor also highlighted projects such as the International Conference Centre, ICT Centre in Shonga, Patigi Regatta Motel, Sheabutter Factory in Kaiama, and Ibrahim Taiwo Road in Offa, describing them as part of a broader drive to stimulate economic growth and improve living standards.

He commended President Bola Tinubu for supporting Kwara’s development efforts, adding that his administration would continue to prioritise initiatives that deliver long-term benefits to residents.
