The Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has announced N8,784,085.59 as hajj fare for intending pilgrims to the 2025 pilgrimage to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The fee was announced by the Board Secretary, Saheed Onipede, in a statement released sequel to the announcement of the 2025 hajj fare by Chairman/CEO of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Prof. Abdullahi Saleh Usman.
In the statement issued by the Director, Public Affairs, Taofeek Lawal, the board urged intending pilgrims, who had completely paid the initial deposit of N8.5 million to pay up the balance of N284,085.59, while those who already obtained the intention form, but yet to pay the initial deposit, are enjoined to commence payment immediately so as to be accommodated for the exercise.
While urging the prospective pilgrims to pay the fare on or before January 31, Onipede clarified that NAHCON arrived at a specific fare for the respective zones after the approval of the Vice President.
He stressed that after extensive consultation by stakeholders, intending pilgrims from the southern states, including Lagos, were to pay N8,784,085.59, while those from Borno and Adamawa zone are to pay N8,327,125.59, while the ones from the northern zone would part with N8,457,685.59.
While empathising with the intending pilgrims on the harsh economic situation in the country, Onipede acknowledged that raising such huge sums of money for holy pilgrimage was not an easy task.
He, however, encouraged them not to despair, stating that Allah, in His infinite mercy, would replenish their pockets and reward them abundantly for answering His call.
Onipede further assured them of the huge benefits they tend to gain by embarking on the spiritual voyage.
He promised that the pilgrims would be accommodated in comfortable hotels nearer to the Haram (Kaabah) in Makkah and Masjid Nabawih (Prophet’s Mosque) in Madinah.
He added that the adherents would be airlifted by a reputable airline, and well taken care of.
