***As Deputy Governor unveils manifesto October 30
The Director General of the Lagos All Progressives Congress campaign council, Musiliu Obanikoro has revealed that three million votes each would be delivered for the party’s presidential and governorship candidates in the forthcoming general elections.
Obanikoro stated this during a press briefing on Sunday to announce the party’s governorship candidate for the 2027 election, Dr. Kadri Hamzat’ plan to unveil his manifesto on Friday, October 30, 2026.
Obanikoro stated that the event will take place at the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts (formerly the National Arts Theatre) in Iganmu, Lagos.
He maintained that Lagos is too important to be left in the hands of an apprentice reason Hamzat fits the bill as the best candidate.
He added that Lagos has made more significant progress but there is still more work ahead, noting that the idea was started by President Bola Tinubu when he contested to become governor in 1999.
He further said that Hamzat is just building on that effort and initiative, stating that the unveiling of the manifesto is in conformity as serious people.
According to Obanikoro, the campaign is geared towards continued shared progress and inclusivity, building a stronger Lagos and improving the lives of the people.
He stated that Lagos belongs to all though preserving the indigenous people of the state. He added that difference should not divide us but work together for the common good.
Obanikoro stated that Lagos faces challenges in healthcare, transportation, human capital development and these require experience to solve.
“The future of Lagos is too important to be left to chance because the decisions we make today will determine the opportunities available to our children, the strength of our economy, and the quality of life of millions of people who call this state home. Lagos has made significant progress over the years, but we are not unaware that more work lies ahead. Our responsibility is to protect the gains we have made, address the challenges that remain, and build a state that offers greater opportunities to all.”
Obanikoro highlighted Dr. Hamzat’s extensive background in both the private sector and public service, noting his PhD in Systems Process Engineering from Cranfield University, experience with global financial institutions like Merrill Lynch and Morgan Stanley, and his current tenure as Lagos State Deputy Governor are the indicators that make him outstanding amongst all.
He acknowledged the feats recorded under the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the APC Governorship candidate, Dr. Hamzat which has significantly transformed the state socio-political and economic landscape.
“From the Blue and Red rail lines to hundreds of completed roads and bridges, improvements in schools and hospitals, enhancing the culture and creative economy, to global level, new housing projects, and support for businesses and young people, the administration has continued to develop the state and improve public services. Dr. Hamzat will draw on his experience in government to build on these gains, address existing challenges, and deepen the progress for the benefit of all Lagosians.” he stressed.
He added that the manifesto will be made available for public download, inviting constructive feedback, comments, and suggestions from Lagos residents.
The manifesto presentation according to the DG, will run from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm and will be broadcast live across major television stations and digital media platforms.
