Lagos council reiterates commitment to improving residents’ standard of living

The Ojodu Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Lagos State has assured residents of the area of its commitment to improve their standard of living.

Chairman of the LCDA, Olusegun Odunmbaku, who spoke with newsmen, yesterday, said that in the last few years, the LCDA under his leadership had carried out development projects in all sectors, such as health, education, environment, youth empowerment and social infrastructure.

Besides, he disclosed that medical personnel had been employed at Apata and Gbadamosi primary healthcare centres, while many youths and women had been empowered with skills to reduce unemployment.

According to him, some primary healthcare centres in the LCDA had been rehabilitated, while two of them were upgraded to 24-hour service delivery, with an alternative power supply.

Odunmbaku, who said that 14 mini-buses were released to some residents of the LCDA to ease transportation, while the administration donated N1,000,000 for the procurement of buses for Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Ikeja branch, said his administration had partnered with WaterAid and PEPSICO to provide WASH facilities in schools, markets and health centres.

The Ojodu LCDA boss added that a zero hunger food relief programme was organised through Ojodu food bank at subsidised prices and also organised the sales of highly-subsidised food items as subsidy removal palliatives.

He said that his administration had upgraded the canal and drainages at Aina street, Oke-Ira canal, Ogba, Oluwole Tarmac Area G among other areas.

He also added that his administration is planning to remodel the secretariat complex, the Eweobaja retail market and new community sport centre, among others.
