Trouble almost erupted when Vice Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Peter Obi and governorship candidate the party in Lagos, Jimi Agbaje were retrained from entering the Alaba Trade Fair complex in Lagos to campaign.
The fracas was to have happened between PDP supporters and some miscreants who were allegedly carrying out the instruction from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Obi and Agbaje accused the management of the business complex and the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of the area of preventing them from entering the facility to meet their supporters during the door-to-door campaign and town hall meetings.
They also said security agencies forced their convoy to wait in the sun for about two hours.
Also, the market leaders, who had to make frantic phone calls to get the strange order revoked, announced that the CP had given a counter-order that they should be allowed to campaign in the promises.
When the CP’s order came, the convoy drove into the complex, while Obi and Agbaje immediately left their vehicles and walked through the place, shaking hands with citizens and greeting the crowd.
In spite of their treatment at Trade Fair-ASPAMDA, the PDP flag-bearers received a rousing reception at the Alaba International Electronics Market.
